For principals and school founders

Every child here gets a career map.

Whole-school delivery from Class 9 to admission, with minimal teacher time and records ready for inspections and the CBSE counsellor rule.

The policy tailwind

What CBSE Circular 02/2026 asks for

The circular (19 Jan 2026) amends Clause 2.4.12 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws. Every Secondary and Senior Secondary school must now appoint two roles:

  • A Counselling & Wellness Teacher for up to every 500 students enrolled (1:500).
  • A Career Counsellor for up to every 500 students in Classes IX–XII (1:500), with competencies in interpreting career assessments and in higher education in India and abroad.
  • Where no Career Counsellor is available, the school may nominate a trained teacher, who has two academic years to gain the qualifications.
State-board school? The circular applies to CBSE-affiliated schools only. NEP 2020 (para 12.4) says professional academic and career counselling should be available to all students, whatever the board, and your students sit the same national exams.

How TheMentorHome supports the rule

  • Career assessments (IAP) with reports your counsellor learns to interpret
  • One-to-one sessions and parent sessions, run alongside your counsellor
  • Up-to-date knowledge of courses and admissions in India and abroad
  • Practical experience for a nominated teacher in their two-year window
  • Records of sessions and students covered, for inspections
Continuous support

Continuous, high-impact support, not a one-day test

ClassFocusWhat the student gains
Class 9Foundation: interests, strengths, first activitiesIAP report and counselling; Compass baseline; first Pathfolio entries
Class 10Decision: the right stream and subjectsAn evidence-based stream choice; parent session; first certifications and Olympiads
Class 11Depth: real projects and future skillsInternships, research, writing; exam strategy; Compass revisited
Class 12Admission: exams and applicationsShortlist, applications, essays, interviews; hand-holding to the admission letter

The same five-step cycle runs every year: Reflect → Plan → Do → Verify → Review, so progress is steady and nothing is left to the last term.

🏫

What your school gets

  • A visible promise for admission season: every child here gets a career map
  • Class-level insight into strengths and gaps
  • Records of sessions and students covered, for inspections and the CBSE rule
  • A leadership view in Pathfolio: roster, completion and approvals
👪

What parents get (the return)

  • A clear, neutral picture of their child's strengths and options
  • Choices that avoid costly wrong streams and drop years
  • A written plan each year, and a private view of progress
  • Support until the admission letter is in hand
What teachers do: release students and attend a short briefing. One named coordinator approves Pathfolio entries, with our guide and set-up support. We run the testing, reports and counselling.

Running an IAP batch in school

A practical checklist

  • Signed parental consent and a parent-checked email address for every student (the report is emailed)
  • One working computer or laptop per student, with stable internet for 80 minutes. No phones or tablets.
  • Language chosen in advance: English or Hindi
  • A quiet room and an invigilator who watches but does not help
  • No computer lab? Batches in any computer room, or a laptop at home, a library or a cyber café
  • After the batch: one-to-one sessions and the parent session within two weeks
